What the notice describes

COBRA may extend group coverage after a qualifying event would otherwise end it. The covered employee or qualified beneficiary must notify the Plan Administrator in writing for divorce or a dependent’s loss of eligibility within the stated 60-day period.

Cost

Qualified beneficiaries who elect COBRA pay for it. No premium amount is provided. This page does not establish an election deadline or duration for every qualifying event.

Extension conditions

The notice discusses an 18-month period and conditional extensions for a Social Security disability determination or second qualifying event. For disability, it requires a copy of the determination within 60 days of that determination and within 18 months of the qualifying event. It says Health FSA continuation ends with the calendar year.

Before you decide
